The Glass Spare Lauren DeStefano Books

4 gnomes out of 5 gnomes

If you’ve read any of this author’s previous books then you already know that you should prepare to have your heart torn out and stomped on a little. The love and heartbreak kind of jumps off the page at you at times. Saying that though I am really glad that I picked this book up and read it. It’s unique and a world I can’t wait to go back to.

You have a plethora of courtly politics and then you throw in things like curses and mysterious illnesses. This equals one jewel of a book.

This fantasy world makes you care right away. The sibling relationships especially are pretty well done. Then there are the romantic relationships including a rather unique take on the love triangle. The use of multiple points of view really helps too though I wish there had been more of her brother’s point of view.

Overall, a book well worth checking out.

The Glass Spare Lauren DeStefano Books Reviews

I loved this and can’t wait for the next book!!! The idea and magic feel original and it kept my attention the entire way through!
This book is a gem. There are many poorly written books on unlimited. This is not one of them. Don't miss it.
Arrived on time and had a STUNNING cover! I seriously finished this book in one day! It’s short and amazing which fit perfectly into the busy holiday season schedule
*Original review on Goodreads & My Blog*

I'm so excited to have a new book that I fell in love with and I'm excited for the second book coming out soon!

Wil is a glass spare. What is that? Read the book =) Actually, you can just read the summary of the book! Wil has two wonderful brothers, Owen and Gerdie and one evil one named Baren. He has some reasons to be evil but that's neither here nor there.

I loved Wil, Owen and Gerdie. I think I loved Gerdie the most of all. He's always trying to come up with inventions. He's pretty good too, but there are explosions from time to time =)

One day something horrible happens and Wil is told to leave by her father or she will be killed. Wil didn't mean for that horrible thing to happen. And with a broken heart she leaves the North for the South. Here she runs into some new characters I fell in love with as well. Loom and Zay.

At first Wil is searching for a man that can possibly help her with her curse. But when she runs into Loom and Zay she finds things bigger than her problem to help with.

Like I said, I greatly enjoyed this book and I look forward to where the author will go with this series.

Happy Reading!

I wasn't sure that I would enjoy this one, but I did! A different take on the King Midas touch, our heroine has to navigate saving herself and her kingdom while dealing with an awful curse that destroyed someone she loved. I was immersed in the story from beginning to end and I can't wait for the sequel!
I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait to read more! The only thing that I didn't like about this book was that it kind of drops you in to a completely novel world that is half-way very ancient and half-way very advanced, but there is next to no world building. The story just kind of starts in the middle of action and doesn't explain what is going on so it kind of leaves you a little confused throughout the book. Like I said, I do really like this book, but I do think that the confusion takes away from the storyline a little as you stop paying attention to what is happening and start wondering what the background was that caused the situation in the first place.
Had high hopes after reading the blurb (I enjoyed the author's Chemical Garden trilogy), but the book never delivered on its promise. Long-winded, slow-moving, easy to put down.
